The Anambra State Government has officially released the schedule for the second-term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim. In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, outlined the series of events following Soludo’s decisive victory in the November 2025 gubernatorial election.

The political and administrative consequence of this announcement is the formalization of Soludo’s mandate through March 2030. Having secured a landslide victory on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo polled 422,664 votes, dwarfing his closest challenger, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, who received 99,445 votes. The wide margin of victory, as declared by INEC Returning Officer Prof. Edogah Omoregie, has set the stage for what the government describes as a “consolidation ceremony” focused on the governor’s “Anambra 1-City” agenda.

Analytically, the inauguration timeline reflects a strategic blend of civic ceremony and religious observance. The main swearing-in event is slated to take place at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital. To ensure a broad-based spiritual and social kickoff for the new term, the government has scheduled an inter-denominational service at the International Convention Center (ICC) on March 15, 2026, followed by a thanksgiving mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on March 22, 2026.

The impact on “Regional Governance and Party Stability” is a vital dimension of this transition. Soludo’s second term is viewed as a litmus test for APGA’s continued dominance in the South East, particularly as he faced challenges from the APC, YPP, and the coalition-backed ADC. The successful rollout of this inauguration programme signals a smooth administrative handover from his first term to the second, minimizing the typical disruption associated with election cycles and allowing for the uninterrupted execution of major infrastructure projects across the state.

Furthermore, the choice of venues—specifically the International Convention Center highlights the administration’s focus on utilizing state-of-the-art facilities commissioned during Soludo’s first four years. By moving the inter-denominational service to the ICC, the government is showcasing its capacity to host high-level regional events, reinforcing Awka’s growing profile as a modern administrative hub.

The long-term outlook for Anambra depends on Soludo’s ability to translate his massive electoral mandate into accelerated economic growth during this final four-year window. With the inauguration ceremonies fast approaching, the state is expected to experience a surge in diplomatic and commercial activity as dignitaries arrive for the festivities. For now, the release of the March 2026 timetable officially begins the countdown to the “Soludo-Ibezim 2.0” administration.
