Nigeria’s Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, is leading the country’s investment drive at the 2026 International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand, where the Federal Government plans to present 23 investment transactions requiring $42.7 billion.

The Federal Ministry of Finance disclosed the investment plan on its official Projects Nigeria platform, which outlines the government’s programme for two investor engagements scheduled for October 13 and 14, 2026.

According to the ministry’s platform, the proposed transactions cover transport, energy and gas, agriculture, industry, housing and urban services. The $42.7 billion represents the portfolio’s stated capital requirement, not investment funds already secured.

The ministry has scheduled an engagement titled Mobilising Private Capital: Leveraging Food Security and Infrastructure Development for October 13, followed by the Nigeria Investors Forum Deal Room on October 14.

The platform says the engagements are designed to bring investors, public institutions and project sponsors together to discuss financing opportunities across priority sectors.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, is also expected to join the Nigerian delegation to promote the country’s investment opportunities.

The annual meetings will run from October 12 to 18, 2026, in Bangkok. The World Bank Group’s official 2026 Annual Meetings website confirms the dates, while its venue page identifies the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre as the main venue.

The meetings bring together government officials, business leaders, civil society representatives and international development partners to discuss the global economy and development challenges.

The World Bank Group’s published programme includes discussions on mobilising private capital for jobs and infrastructure, while the IMF’s annual meetings programme provides a platform for discussions on global economic and financial stability.

Nigeria’s participation comes as the government seeks to attract investment and strengthen engagement with international financial institutions and development partners. The proposed investor engagements are intended to connect prospective investors with project sponsors and financing opportunities.

However, the publication of the investment portfolio does not mean that the transactions have secured funding or reached financial close. Their eventual implementation will depend on financing arrangements, investor commitments and project readiness.

The meetings mark an opportunity for Nigeria to present its investment pipeline to international investors while engaging policymakers on economic growth, development financing and financial stability.
