Interswitch, a leading African integrated payments and digital commerce company, recently hosted the developer community at its Innovation Hub in Lagos for the ‘Coded Meetup’. The event was organised by the Interswitch Developer Community and was designed to strengthen the ecosystem by providing a physical space for developers, engineers, and tech enthusiasts from across Africa to connect, collaborate, and exchange crucial industry knowledge.
Muyiwa Asagba, Managing Director, Commercial Inclusion at Interswitch Inclusio, emphasised the company’s core belief: Africans should solve Africa’s problems, as they possess the deepest understanding of the continent’s nuances, challenges, and opportunities. He stressed that solving these complex problems requires more than just talent; it demands the right motivation, mentorship, and a strong community. The Interswitch Developer Community was specifically created to empower developers with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to build impactful solutions, affirming that investing in people is investing in Africa’s future.
The ‘Coded Meetup’ intentionally went beyond typical online interactions, focusing on fostering conversations around engineering excellence, innovation, and mentorship—key pillars for empowering Africa’s rapidly growing community of tech builders. Seasoned industry leaders led discussions on critical areas shaping the future of technology, including distributed systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Scalable Solution Design. Other pivotal discussions centred on the role of community-driven learning, the importance of ethical AI use, and how mentorship can future-proof developers’ careers in the constantly evolving digital landscape.
The Interswitch Developer Community remains a sustained initiative dedicated to capacity-building and fostering lasting collaboration among African tech professionals.
