Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications at Dangote Group, has once again been recognised among the world’s most influential communications leaders after being named to the prestigious Influence 100 list for 2025. The accomplishment marks his fifth consecutive appearance on the list and solidifies his standing as the only Nigerian featured this year.

This annual ranking, compiled by PRovoke Media, celebrates top communications, corporate affairs, and marketing executives from around the globe who have shaped the strategic narrative of major organisations over the past year. Inclusion in this list reflects not just visibility, but influence on how organisations manage trust, governance and stakeholder engagement in a complex global environment.

Chiejina’s name has appeared on this list since 2021, setting him apart through consistent excellence and sustained global relevance. Industry observers view this as a testament to his strategic approach in elevating Dangote Group’s reputation across multiple sectors.

Dangote Group is Africa’s largest industrial conglomerate with interests spanning cement, agriculture, energy, manufacturing and consumer goods. Chiejina’s leadership in corporate communications has been instrumental in shaping and protecting the public image of the conglomerate as it grows and expands across the continent. His role is central to managing how the group communicates its mission, values, achievements and challenges to diverse audiences across Africa and beyond.

“As group head of corporate communications, he oversees external and internal reputation across multiple sectors spanning cement, agriculture, energy and consumer goods, and has helped steer the brand’s continued recognition as the most admired indigenous company on the continent,” according to PRovoke Media. This leadership in reputation management underscores the strategic importance of communications in today’s business environment.

Before joining Dangote Group, Chiejina built a diverse professional foundation through senior roles in banking, media and corporate affairs, including at Zenith Bank, Oceanic Bank, Seven Up Bottling Company, African Economic Digest and African Concord. This broad background has helped him understand the interplay between media, business and public sentiment, skills that have proven invaluable in steering the communications direction of one of Africa’s most influential business groups.

The 2025 Influence 100 list featured leaders from more than 20 countries and included senior communications executives from globally recognised organisations. These ranged from major multinationals to regionally influential institutions. By maintaining his place on this list, Chiejina continues to represent an African voice in an area of leadership often dominated by Western and Asian entities.

“The 2025 Influence 100 reflects a global landscape in which communications has evolved into a core leadership function, critical to governance, trust-building and reputation management amid geopolitical uncertainty, technological disruption and heightened public scrutiny.” This shift highlights why communicators like Chiejina are increasingly recognised as key drivers of corporate strategy, not just media spokespeople.

Chiejina’s ongoing presence on the list also represents a growing trend of African corporate leaders gaining international recognition for strategic expertise, rather than merely operational execution. This has broader implications for how African business leadership is viewed globally, suggesting a shift in perception and opportunity that could attract new partnerships, investments and collaborations across borders.

Dangote Group’s global influence extends beyond communications to significant economic contributions. In 2024, Dangote Group paid over N402 billion in taxes, making it Nigeria’s top taxpayer, and continues expanding projects, like its refinery that support jobs, industrial growth and foreign exchange generation, underlining how strong corporate reputation can align with economic impact.
