A.R.N. Foods Limited, one of Nigeria’s rapidly expanding agribusiness companies, has taken a decisive step to strengthen its leadership and operational backbone with the appointment of Chinedu Okere as Managing Director. This move signals the company’s intent to build long-term value and deepen its influence across the agricultural value chain.
The decision was announced by the board of directors at the beginning of January, marking a significant milestone for a business that has grown from a commodity trading outfit into an influential player in processing, distribution, and food security efforts in Nigeria. A.R.N. Foods has been actively transforming its business strategy to meet rising domestic demand for staples such as rice, sorghum, soybean, and maize.
In his new role, Okere is tasked with steering the company’s strategic direction and ensuring operational excellence across all units. He will take the lead in expanding the company’s sourcing networks, improving production efficiency, overseeing distribution strategies, and solidifying market expansion efforts. His responsibilities also include enhancing internal systems, fostering team empowerment, and driving a culture of accountability and performance.
Speaking on the appointment, A.R.N. Foods’ chairman, Rilwan Adetola Nola, expressed strong confidence in Okere’s ability to guide the organisation into its next phase of growth. He highlighted Okere’s clarity of vision, leadership philosophy, and experience as crucial attributes that align with the company’s growth ambitions.
“I am honoured to take on this responsibility at such a pivotal time for A.R.N. Foods,” Okere said in his first public remarks as Managing Director. “The company has built a strong foundation rooted in collaboration, integrity, and ambition. I look forward to working with the team to build on what has been created while positioning A.R.N. Foods for the future through innovation, discipline, and intentional growth.”
Okere brings a wealth of experience from roles in manufacturing, agriculture, and agro-processing. Before joining A.R.N. Foods, he served as Managing Director of Coscharis Farms Ltd, where he oversaw key operations in primary agriculture and food processing. He also previously led Niyya Food & Drinks Company Ltd and held strategic planning roles at Heineken Nigeria. His broad professional background is expected to be a strong asset as he navigates the competitive and evolving Nigerian food and agriculture landscape.
A.R.N. Foods’ recent activities underscore its growth and resilience. The company is finalising an ultra-modern rice milling facility in Epe, Lagos, designed to begin production early in 2026. The facility, capable of processing thousands of bags of rice per day, is poised to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s food security and reduce reliance on imported staples.
Earlier, the company successfully issued and fully redeemed a ₦3.8 billion Series 1 Commercial Paper under its ₦5 billion programme, an indication of solid financial management and investor confidence. This strong liquidity position provides a sound financial base for pursuing expansion strategies and operational developments under Okere’s leadership.
Under his stewardship, stakeholders expect A.R.N. Foods to strengthen relationships with suppliers, enhance product quality, and improve distribution networks across Nigeria’s complex market. The company’s focus on innovation and partnerships has already helped it stand out among peers in the agricultural sector.
Nigeria’s agricultural sector plays a pivotal role in national GDP and employment. Strengthening leadership at A.R.N. Foods could enhance production efficiency and supply chain resilience, contributing to reduced food inflation and supporting economic stability amid broader macroeconomic challenges such as high prices and currency pressures.
