Passengers booked on Air Peace’s Abuja-Maiduguri service were provided hotel accommodation after a Jet A1 aviation fuel shortage delayed operations at Abuja airport and a landing restriction later prevented the flight from operating.

Air Peace said in a statement issued on Saturday, September 26, 2026, that the initial delays to its Abuja operations were caused by the unavailability of Jet A1 aviation fuel at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja.

The airline said the shortage affected Air Peace and other carriers operating from the airport that day, adding that its delayed flights resumed after fuel supplies became available.

The Abuja-Maiduguri flight, however, faced a separate problem. Air Peace said air traffic control in Maiduguri had initially granted the incoming flight an extension to land, but later withdrew the approval as prevailing Visual Flight Rules (VFR) conditions meant the aircraft could not land after sunset.

According to Premium Times in its report of Sunday, September 27, 2026, the withdrawal occurred as passengers were being called to board, leaving Air Peace with no option but to cancel the flight.

Air Peace said affected passengers were kept informed and provided with refreshments during the disruption. Following the cancellation, the airline arranged hotel accommodation and rebooked the passengers on a flight scheduled for the following day.

The airline apologised for the inconvenience and said passenger safety remained the guiding principle behind its operational decisions.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to our esteemed passengers and appreciate their patience and understanding,” Air Peace said.
