The Nigeria Customs Service has announced dates for the physical screening and documentation of successful candidates selected for its Assistant Superintendent of Customs II and Assistant Inspector of Customs recruitment categories. The exercise is scheduled to take place from September 7 to September 15, 2026, at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the management of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The screening represents another important stage in the recruitment process, which attracted 573,680 applications from Nigerians seeking to join the Service. The NCS directed successful candidates to appear at the venue only on the date assigned to their state and recruitment category.
It also stressed that attendance is compulsory for all shortlisted applicants.“The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) wishes to inform all successful candidates who applied for recruitment into the Service that the physical screening and documentation exercise is scheduled to take place at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja,” the statement read in part. Candidates have been advised to arrive early and follow all instructions given by officials at the screening centre. Their documents will also be examined as part of the verification process. The Service warned applicants to be cautious of fraudsters who may demand money or claim they can influence the recruitment process. It said candidates who fail to appear for the exercise or submit false documents could be disqualified.
For candidates under the Superintendent Cadre, known as Assistant Superintendent of Customs II, the screening will run from September 7 to September 10.Candidates from Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River and Delta are expected on September 7. Those from Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Ekiti, Gombe, the Federal Capital Territory, Imo, Jigawa and Kaduna will report on September 8.Candidates from Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger and Ogun will attend on September 9, while those from Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara are scheduled for September 10.
For the Inspectorate Cadre, classified as Assistant Inspector of Customs, the exercise will take place on September 14 and 15.Candidates from the first group of states will report on September 14, while applicants from Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara will report on September 15. Shortlisted candidates are required to attend on their assigned dates, as failure to appear could result in disqualification. Applicants are expected to bring the original and photocopies of their National Identification Number, birth certificate or declaration of age, and relevant educational certificates.
They must also provide their certificate of state of origin, two recent passport photographs, a completed guarantor’s form and an NYSC certificate where applicable. Candidates are expected to wear a white T shirt, shorts and canvas shoes. The NCS said candidates who successfully complete the screening and documentation process will receive information about the next stage of the recruitment exercise. A total of 3,852 candidates were previously announced as successful across the three recruitment categories. This represents about 0.7 percent of the 573,680 applications received. The Superintendent Cadre received 276,995 applications, with 1,275 candidates selected. The Inspectorate Cadre received 128,604 applications, with 367 successful candidates, while the Customs Assistant Cadre received 168,081 applications and produced 2,210 successful candidates.
The recruitment exercise began after the Federal Government approved the employment of 3,927 personnel for the Nigeria Customs Service. The Service later conducted a nationwide Computer Based Test between September 14 and 21, 2025.In April 2026, the recruitment portal was reopened to allow shortlisted candidates to complete additional screening requirements before it closed on May 10, 2026.
