Moniepoint Inc. has partnered with the African Leadership University (ALU) School of Business to launch a 13-week executive education programme aimed at developing leadership capabilities for professionals in Nigeria’s fast-growing technology and financial services sectors.
The initiative reflects a broader trend of leading African technology companies investing in executive education as competition for skilled leadership intensifies amid rapid digital transformation. By combining academic instruction with practical industry experience, the programme seeks to address talent gaps that continue to constrain the growth of Africa’s digital economy.
The curriculum will be delivered through a blend of in-person immersion sessions, live virtual classes and self-paced learning. Participants can choose between two specialised tracks: Strategic Management and Leadership and Data-Driven Decision-Making, both designed to strengthen leadership, analytical thinking and organisational decision-making.
Although the programme has been developed primarily for Moniepoint’s managers, it will also be open to mid-career professionals, university students and recent graduates interested in careers spanning technology, financial services and entrepreneurship.
Speaking on the partnership, Moniepoint Group Chief Executive Officer, Tosin Eniolorunda, said developing world-class leaders is critical to sustaining innovation and expanding financial inclusion across Africa.
“Execution is everything in this game, and execution is a leadership problem before it’s anything else. If we want Nigeria’s digital economy to compete globally, we can’t outsource the people who run it; we have to build them deliberately here,” he said.
Eniolorunda added that the quality of leadership emerging from the programme would directly influence the company’s ability to extend digital financial services to underserved businesses across Nigeria, including commercial hubs such as Onitsha and Kano.
The programme will be taught by ALU faculty and industry practitioners, including Dr. Olugbenga Afolabi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Hazon Holdings and founder of the Eko Innovation Centre, alongside Dr. Omowale Crenshaw, co-founder of Grupo Mecca Colombia and a former McKinsey consultant.
According to Moniepoint, participants will also receive training in communication, evidence-based decision-making and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, which are increasingly shaping corporate strategy and investor expectations worldwide.
The collaboration comes as Nigeria’s fintech industry continues to expand, driving demand for experienced managers capable of scaling businesses, managing complex operations and navigating regulatory requirements. Industry experts say partnerships between universities and private-sector companies can help narrow persistent skills gaps while producing leaders equipped to accelerate innovation and support sustainable economic growth.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the initiative as an example of stronger industry-academia collaboration, arguing that programmes combining academic rigour with practical business expertise will become increasingly important as Africa’s digital economy matures and competition for leadership talent intensifies.
