Dangote Industries Limited has launched a new whistleblowing campaign to stop the illegal use of its branded trucks across Nigeria. As part of the initiative, the company is offering a cash reward of ₦500,000 to anyone who provides useful information that leads to the arrest of people involved in illegal haulage or the recovery of unauthorized goods.
The company said the move is aimed at protecting its logistics operations and preventing individuals from using Dangote trucks for unauthorized commercial activities. It explained that some people have been using the company’s trucks to transport goods that are not approved, which goes against company rules and could damage its reputation.
Dangote stated that each of its trucks is assigned to carry only specific products. For example, trucks belonging to Dangote Cement are allowed to transport only cement, limestone, clinker, coal, and high-grade gypsum. Trucks from Dangote Sugar Refinery are meant only for sugar products, while NASCON Allied Industries trucks should carry Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products.
The company also noted that Dangote Packaging trucks are only approved to transport bags and packaging materials. Trucks from Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are restricted to carrying polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited trucks are authorized to transport urea fertilizer.
According to the company, any Dangote truck found carrying goods outside these approved products will be considered to be involved in illegal haulage. It warned that drivers and owners of such goods could face arrest, confiscation of the cargo, and prosecution under the law.
Dangote encouraged members of the public to support the campaign by reporting any suspicious activity involving its trucks. It said people who provide accurate and verifiable information that helps security agencies stop illegal haulage or recover unauthorized goods will receive a reward of ₦500,000.
To make reporting easier, the company has set up dedicated hotlines where members of the public can submit useful information. It advised whistleblowers to provide clear details, including the truck’s location, the type of goods being transported, and any other relevant information that could assist investigations.
The company also confirmed that law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been given the authority to arrest any driver caught using Dangote trucks for unauthorized commercial transport.
Dangote Industries emphasized that it has a zero-tolerance policy toward logistics fraud and illegal haulage. It said the whistleblowing initiative is part of its commitment to protecting company assets, maintaining transparency, and ensuring that its nationwide transport operations follow the law.
The company added that the campaign is also intended to protect the Dangote brand and promote honest business practices. It believes that with the support of the public and security agencies, illegal operators can be identified and brought to justice, helping to keep its logistics network safe, accountable, and efficient.
