Dangote Industries Limited has once again been recognized as Africa’s Most Admired Brand, marking its eighth consecutive year at the top of the Brand Africa 100 rankings. The announcement was made during the 16th annual Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The latest ranking highlights Dangote’s continued influence and strong reputation across the continent. In addition to being named Africa’s Most Admired Brand, the company also retained its title as Africa’s Most Admired Industrial Brand. It was further recognized as the leading African brand contributing positively to the development of the continent.
According to Brand Africa, the rankings were based on a 2026 survey conducted across 30 African countries. These countries represent more than 85 percent of Africa’s population and economic activity. The survey evaluated brands based on consumer perception, influence, trust, and relevance in different sectors of the economy.
In the aided recall category, Dangote ranked first among African brands, ahead of telecommunications giants MTN and Vodacom. The company also secured second place in spontaneous brand recall, coming behind MTN and ahead of Trade Kings.
Brand Africa credited Dangote’s success to its wide presence across key industries that support economic growth in Africa. The company operates in sectors such as cement production, fertilizer manufacturing, petrochemicals, energy, sugar refining, salt processing, packaging, and logistics. Its investments in these industries have helped strengthen local production and create jobs across several African countries.
The survey also placed Dangote second among brands that are viewed as making a positive impact on society, people, and the environment. This recognition reflects the company’s efforts to support economic development and improve lives through its business activities.
Despite the achievements of African-owned companies, Brand Africa noted that local brands still face strong competition from international businesses. According to the report, African brands accounted for only 15 percent of the continent’s 100 most admired brands in 2026. This shows that global brands continue to dominate many African markets.
Speaking on the findings, Brand Africa Founder and Chairman Thebe Ikalafeng emphasized the importance of supporting homegrown brands. He said African businesses such as Dangote demonstrate the continent’s industrial strength and have the potential to compete successfully on the global stage. He called for greater efforts to celebrate and promote African brands to encourage economic growth and industrial development.
The latest recognition adds to Dangote Industries’ long list of achievements. The company had previously been inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame for its consistent excellence and leadership.
The event also honored Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Industries. He was named among Africa’s 100 Most Influential Chief Marketing Officers and was one of only 17 Nigerians included in the inaugural Africa CMO 100 list.
Furthermore, Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries, received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to industrialization, manufacturing growth, and private-sector development across Africa.
