The Kano State Government has announced a collaboration with the Federal Government to provide enabling infrastructure in the education and health sectors. The State Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, stated that the partnership will focus on the construction and rehabilitation of primary health centres and public schools across all 44 local government areas of the state.
The initiative is part of the state’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare and basic education, particularly in underserved rural communities. The Federal Government, through its various intervention agencies, will provide technical and financial support for the projects. The collaboration is also expected to help the state meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to health and education. The announcement came as the Kano government unveiled plans to upgrade some general hospitals to provide specialised medical services.
From an economic standpoint, investments in education and healthcare are fundamental to human capital development, which is a critical driver of long-term productivity and economic growth.
