Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited has moved to deepen its access to Nigeria’s short term debt market with the launch of a N100 billion commercial paper issuance, signalling growing corporate reliance on alternative funding channels amid tight liquidity conditions.

The company announced the offer under its broader N200 billion Commercial Paper Programme, positioning the issuance as a structured effort to strengthen working capital capacity and sustain operational expansion. The fundraising reflects a wider trend among Nigerian corporates increasingly turning to commercial papers as bank credit becomes costlier and more selective.

According to details released in the offer circular, the issuance is divided into three series with tenors of 180 days, 270 days and 364 days. Discount rates range slightly above 19 percent, while implied yields extend up to 23.5 percent, underscoring elevated returns demanded by investors in Nigeria’s high interest rate environment.

The offer opened on February 27, 2026, and is scheduled to close on March 5, with settlement expected the following day. Minimum subscription has been fixed at N5 million, targeting institutional investors, corporates and high net worth participants seeking exposure to short duration fixed income instruments.

The company stated that the fundraising exercise is intended to support working capital needs and broader funding requirements as it expands operations within the agricultural commodities export market. “This issuance marks a continuation of the company’s strategic use of the Nigerian short term debt market,” the company noted.

Sunbeth Global operates within Nigeria’s non oil export segment, focusing on sourcing, processing and exporting cocoa beans and cashew nuts to international markets. Established in 2017, the firm has scaled rapidly, exporting more than 200,000 metric tonnes of cocoa beans and about 60,000 metric tonnes of cashew annually, positioning itself among notable contributors to agricultural export earnings.

Market analysts view the issuance as part of a broader financing shift among commodity exporters seeking flexible capital structures to manage volatility in global prices, logistics costs and foreign exchange conditions. Commercial papers provide shorter maturity funding compared to bonds, allowing issuers to respond quickly to changing operating cycles.

Credit assessments attached to the offer indicate relatively stable risk perception. The issuance carries short term ratings of A2 from both DataPro and GCR, while long term ratings stand at A and BBB+ respectively. These ratings suggest moderate credit quality supported by operating performance and earnings growth.

Financial disclosures referenced in the investment case show that Sunbeth’s operating profit currently covers interest obligations about 2.3 times, despite rising finance costs. This coverage level is considered adequate for short term debt instruments, reinforcing investor confidence in repayment capacity.

The transaction also highlights increasing capital market participation by companies in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain. By listing the commercial papers on recognised trading platforms, the company aims to broaden investor access while contributing to liquidity within the domestic debt market.

Industry observers note that sustained investor appetite for commercial papers reflects demand for higher yielding instruments at a time when inflation and monetary tightening continue to shape investment decisions. Within this context, Sunbeth’s issuance represents both a financing strategy and a test of market confidence in export driven businesses.

Overall, the N100 billion raise signals an assertive capital strategy as the company seeks to consolidate growth while navigating evolving financial conditions in Nigeria’s corporate funding landscape.
