Dangote Petroleum Refinery has publicly thanked President Bola Tinubu for intervening in its dispute with PENGASSAN (the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria). The refinery said the president’s involvement, via his ministers and senior officials, helped reduce what it described as “disruptive actions of PENGASSAN.”
In a statement, the company said, “Dangote Refinery is grateful to the President … for his intervention … which resulted in the abatement of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the Refinery.” It also expressed thanks to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the ministers of labour and employment, and other government officials for their “patriotism and national service.”
The refinery also addressed the public: “You gave us hope and reinforced our belief in the Nigerian nation and people as the backbone of our enterprise.” It pledged to continue working in Nigerians’ interest and to stand firm against “rent seekers, economic saboteurs and economic squatters.” To its workers, the refinery added: “To our loyal workers, who ensured that our operations were not disrupted even for a second, we thank and appreciate you.”
Reassuring Nigerians, Dangote said it “would not relent in serving the nation faithfully and diligently through the uninterrupted production of petroleum products.” The company affirmed that its “commitment to the Nigerian nation and our pact with its people remain undiluted, undiminished and unalterable notwithstanding the distractions from our detractors and the saboteurs in our midst.”
