The managing director/CEO of Rex Insurance Limited, Mrs Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, has reiterated that policyholders remain central to the company’s ongoing transformation, as she was honoured at the 2025 BusinessDay Top 25 CEOs Awards over the weekend.

‎Nwachukwu, who emerged as one of Nigeria’s top-performing chief executives, said the recognition underscored the strides Rex Insurance has made in repositioning itself as a modern, customer-centric insurer.

‎“This award is very humbling and means a lot, being recognised as one of the Top 25 CEOs in Nigeria.

‎“It is also a testament to the work Rex Insurance has done over the past three years of transformation. We have turned Nigeria’s oldest insurance company into a digital-first business, grooming the best people and ensuring our customers feel the impact of all the work we have done. It is very rewarding to be recognised with this award”, she said.

‎Since assuming leadership in January 2023, Nwachukwu has spearheaded a wide-ranging transformation that has seen Rex Insurance achieve significant growth, commission a state-of-the-art head office in Victoria Island, Lagos, and roll out inclusive retail and climate-based agricultural insurance products to deepen market reach.

‎Her leadership has also placed strong emphasis on customer experience, innovation, and timely claims settlement, while aligning stakeholders around the 2025 theme of “Building Synergy and Growth” to drive sustainable profitability.

‎The company’s rebranding and digital-first strategy have repositioned Rex Insurance as one of the most forward-looking players in Nigeria’s insurance industry.

‎Reflecting on the honour, Nwachukwu added: “This recognition is a true reflection of the dedication and hard work of the entire Rex Insurance team. Together, we have built a solid foundation for continued innovation and success, and I am immensely proud of all that we have accomplished.”

‎The event was attended by members of the Rex Insurance leadership team, including executive director (Business Development) Mr Sunny Uwagboi; general counsel/company secretary, Ms Shiela Ezeuko; chief financial officer, Mr Abayomi Kayode; head of Brands & Events, Mr Emmanuel Ndoh; and head of Corporate Communications & Customer Experience, Mr Wilson Okoh-Esene.
