The Lagos State Government has begun rehabilitating damaged sections of the Eti-Osa–Lekki–Epe Expressway and announced a 35-day repair programme for Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, as it undertakes road works across key residential and commercial areas.
The projects affect major routes used by commuters, residents and businesses, with traffic diversions expected during the repair of some sections.
According to a report published by Vanguard on October 14, 2026, the state government commenced a 35-day rehabilitation of damaged sections of the Eti-Osa–Lekki–Epe Expressway, covering Bonny Camp to Admiralty Way Junction and areas around Victoria Garden City.
Olufemi Daramola, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Infrastructure, disclosed the project during a stakeholders’ engagement organised by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
The government said traffic management arrangements would be introduced to reduce congestion and protect road users during the work.
The expressway serves residential estates, commercial centres and other developments along the Lekki corridor, making access and traffic movement important to businesses and commuters.
In a separate development, the government has scheduled rehabilitation work on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road in Victoria Island.
TheCable reported on October 16, 2026, that the 35-day exercise would begin on Monday, October 19, covering the stretch between the Adetokunbo Ademola Road/Civic Centre junction and Samuel Manuwa Street/BJ.
Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi said a contraflow arrangement would operate on the Lagos-bound side between Samuel Manuwa and Adetokunbo Ademola Road/Civic Centre while work was carried out on the opposite lane.
The government also outlined alternative routes for motorists to reduce disruption during the rehabilitation.
Motorists travelling from Bonny Camp and Falomo towards Civic Centre and Lekki were advised to use alternative routes through Adeyemo Alakija, Adeola Hopewell, Akinbo Savage and Bishop Aboyade Cole streets before reconnecting to the expressway around School Corner, near Black Diamond.
The road works come as the state pursues improvements around the Parkview and Banana Island intersections in Ikoyi.
In a report published on September 5, 2026, The PUNCH said the government had announced reconstruction and improvement projects at the two intersections, with a six-month delivery timeline.
Osiyemi said the projects were intended to ease traffic bottlenecks and improve movement within the busy residential and business district.
The government also said construction would be coordinated with residents, contractors, traffic managers and utility providers to limit disruption.
The projects have separate scopes and timelines, and the announcements do not establish that every road listed for repair across Lagos has entered construction.
For residents and businesses, the practical impact will depend on how efficiently the works are delivered, how traffic is managed and whether the repaired sections remain in good condition after completion.
