Nigeria Gets Its First Home-Grown Cloud Automation Platform as CloudVantage Debuts

On Monday, CloudVantage officially launched as Nigeria’s first indigenous cloud-automation platform, marking a major step forward in digital infrastructure for local businesses and governments. The platform aims to tackle common hurdles in cloud-adoption, such as lengthy onboarding, manual server deployment, hidden costs and security risks, by providing a streamlined, automated solution built locally for the African context.

CEO Muhideen Ashiru said that for too long, Nigerians and African businesses have been waiting for affordable, local cloud-automation solutions, simple and reliable locally-developed options with a ‘pay-as-you-go’ model. He emphasised that CloudVantage is more than just a provider of cloud services, it is “delivering an automated digital advantage. Our platform eliminates the unexpected hidden charges, finally making scalable, secure, and smart cloud technology accessible right here at home.”

CloudVantage’s platform is built on three main pillars of automation: cost optimisation, security automation and automated provisioning. In practice, this means their tools can monitor, analyse and automatically adjust cloud resources to prevent the budget-draining surprises often seen with traditional “pay-as-you-go” models. On the security front, it includes built-in automated security checks and real-time monitoring to mitigate the common issue of cloud mis-configuration and data exposure. In terms of provisioning, users can instantly deploy Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) via self-service, cutting deployment times and reducing human error.

Beyond these automation features, CloudVantage offers a full stack of foundational cloud services: core computing and networking, storage and resilience, managed services including Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS), load balancers, floating IPs, vault storage for secure and scalable data storage, persistent block storage volumes and snapshots for backup and recovery. For developers, startups, large corporations and governments alike, this means they can build, deploy and scale modern applications securely and efficiently, all with a platform that is locally based and managed.

One major appeal is the localisation: Nigerian and African organisations will no longer have to rely solely on foreign cloud vendors that may impose high costs, currency-risk, latency issues or data sovereignty concerns. A locally developed platform like CloudVantage can provide better alignment with regional regulatory, business and technical realities.

Businesses and developers are currently being invited to sign up to the platform via the company’s website.

A recent study by AWS projects that increased cloud adoption in Nigeria could unlock roughly ₦30.2 trillion (about 0.36 % of projected GDP) between 2023 and 2033, underlining how platforms like CloudVantage could play a critical role in driving productivity, innovation and economic growth.
