First City Monument Bank has received recognition from the Lagos Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, ISACA, for its contributions to technology governance, cybersecurity, risk management, audit, assurance and digital trust in Nigeria.
The recognition highlights the bank’s growing involvement in strengthening the country’s digital financial ecosystem and promoting safer technology driven banking services. The award was presented to FCMB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yemisi Edun, during the ISACA Lagos Chapter’s 30th anniversary celebration held in Lagos on August 21.
Edun received a commemorative plaque in recognition of FCMB’s contributions to digital trust and professional development. According to a statement from the bank, the award also reflected the partnership between FCMB and ISACA in promoting knowledge sharing, professional development and improved standards within Nigeria’s technology sector. Speaking about the recognition, Edun said the partnership between both organisations remained important as technology continues to influence the financial services industry.
“We value our partnership with ISACA,” Edun said. “This honour reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the professional capabilities and standards that underpin digital trust. She also expressed confidence in ISACA’s ability to continue developing professionals with the knowledge, expertise and leadership needed to respond to new risks and opportunities emerging in the technology space. The FCMB chief executive further acknowledged the contributions of the ISACA Lagos Chapter to information systems auditing, cybersecurity, governance, risk management, compliance and emerging technologies. The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to reflect on the development of the technology profession in Nigeria and the importance of building stronger expertise in areas that support digital transformation.
ISACA Global Chief Executive Officer, Erik Prusch, also highlighted the strength and resilience of Nigeria’s information technology and cybersecurity professionals. According to him, organisations need skilled and well trained employees who can support business growth, adapt to technological changes and take advantage of emerging opportunities.
The President of the ISACA Lagos Chapter, Justus Osuji, said the anniversary was an opportunity to look back on three decades of professional service, leadership and knowledge development. He also noted the chapter’s role in advancing information systems auditing, cybersecurity, governance, risk management, compliance and emerging technology in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
For FCMB, the recognition comes as the bank continues to invest in digital capabilities, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity and risk management.
