The Federal Government has taken a decisive step in its major recruitment drive by announcing the list of shortlisted candidates for jobs across four key paramilitary agencies. The roles are within the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
The announcement was made by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). The Board’s Secretary, Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (Rtd.), released a public statement directing applicants to verify their status and check crucial examination details. Candidates are required to visit the official recruitment portal—recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng—from Thursday, October 30, 2025, to confirm if they have been shortlisted and to find the specific centres assigned for their upcoming Computer-Based Test (CBT).
All successful applicants must carefully note the precise date, venue, and time of their individual CBT to ensure they do not miss the examination stage. Jibril strongly cautioned the public against relying on any unofficial sources, urging applicants to use the CDCFIB’s website as the sole reliable source of information to avoid falling victim to fraudsters and scams.
This massive recruitment effort holds significant economic implications for Nigeria. By filling thousands of positions across these four crucial agencies, the government is making a direct intervention against the rising national challenge of youth unemployment.
Paramilitary and civil service recruitment provides immediate, stable employment for a large number of young graduates who have been struggling to secure jobs in the private sector. Furthermore, these agencies perform essential security and public safety functions. Strengthening the NIS and NSCDC, for example, improves border control and internal security, which are vital components of a stable business environment. Improved security reduces operational risk for companies and makes the country more attractive to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
The timely recruitment and deployment of trained personnel in the Correctional and Fire Services also enhance the overall efficiency of public institutions, which is necessary for effective governance and service delivery. Ultimately, the successful completion of this exercise will inject both capital (in the form of salaries) and capacity into the economy, contributing to social stability and better public service performance.
