President Bola Tinubu has upgraded the role of Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, appointing him as the Special Adviser on Political Affairs. The announcement was made by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in a statement released on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Abuja.

The structural and strategic consequence of this appointment marks a promotion for Masari, who has served as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Political Matters since the inception of the administration in 2023. A veteran politician from Katsina State, Masari brings significant organizational experience to the role, having previously served as the National Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of former party chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Analytically, this move signals a consolidation of the President’s political advisory team as the administration enters its third year. Masari is expected to work in close synergy with Alhaji Yau Darazo, another seasoned political strategist who was appointed as a Special Adviser in July 2023. This dual-advisor structure suggests a focused effort to harmonize executive policies with political interests across the federation.

The impact on “Political Strategy and Party Liaison” remains a vital dimension of this appointment. By elevating Masari, President Tinubu is positioning a trusted ally with deep roots in the APC’s internal structures to manage complex political dynamics and stakeholder engagements heading into the latter half of his term.
